Typhoon (Jay Kim) and X-Mas (Jung Mo Kim) said in a recent interview that they would do all they can to fight against the preconceptions and notions about the band being an “idol band.” They expressed,
“Truthfully, there was some prejudice in the beginning. SM is home to many idol groups, but they do have musicians in other genres as well. We’re frequently asked whether or not we’re k-idols, but the truth is that, if we can prove our skills through our music well enough, all of this talk will naturally disappear. We just see this as another obstacle to overcome.”
TRAX definitely showed that they had SM pride, adding, “It’s true that SME’s size has helped us a lot. But that doesn’t matter because it’s the path that we chose, so we will overcome the prejudice.”
They finished off by saying, “We shed blood and sweat to make our latest album in order to win the approval of our fans. We worked hard for a distinctive genre and for the highest quality of music. We’ll work even harder to overcome any and all challenges.”
